Come To Me - Cross Stitch Pattern
I saw Nosferatu and am, predictably, obsessed. Its a masterpiece of a film, and I keep finding new interviews about Robert Eggers' incredible attention to detail - like the lilacs! Thomas gives Ellen a bouquet of lilacs, she wears them in her hair, Orlok says she smells like them. In the Victorian flower language, lilacs symbolize first love, and were worn by widows to remember their love. Lilacs were also often used at the funerals of young people, or those that had a good spirit & heart. I also just really like them!
I knew I wanted to do something Nosferatu inspired for Valentine's Day, but it took a lot of trial & error to get the final pattern. I originally tried some different phrases from the movie, a bouquet of lilacs, and even played around with a full-coverage floral piece like my Midsommar pattern. Then it finally hit me - I could make a sister to last year's The Rest is Confetti pattern!
I adapted one of my fonts to match the poster script, and the DMC purples are pulled from the various shades in Ellen's bouquet. Shown on 14 count fabric in a 6" hoop. The pattern is slightly larger than 6" on 14 count fabric, so it will completely fill the hoop.
